And put “Dear John” as the subject) at: webmaster@speakupmagazine.it By the way, John doesn’t enjoy answering questions about grammar and language. Dear John,
I’m writing to ask for your advice. I studied French when I was young. I always regret not learning English and so I have been studying your language for the last two years at the British Institute in Florence, where I live. I’m 41 years old and I have been working in the furniture business since 1997. I love my job, even if it’s very hard for a woman, so I usually do not have much time to study. I would like to be more self-confident and to speak more fluently. Could you please suggest the best way to achieve my goals! Next September I’m going to Brighton and I’m looking forward to it. I always read Speak Up, I think it’s a good method for improving my vocabulary, but unfortunately I speak Italian most  of the time...
Anyway, I would really like to hear your point of view on how I can improve my English.
Thank you very much indeed!

The best way to learn the language is to get yourself an English lover... if you’re single, it will be easy, Florence is full of English guys. If you’re not, be careful! :)

Dear John,
Why do English bathrooms always have carpets?

To keep our feet warm after a shower. They also give a warm look to an otherwise cold-looking room. Now you’re going to ask me about the lack of “bidets,” aren’t you?

Dear John,
My boyfriend still worries about his ex all the time and she calls him constantly, even for the most stupid thing... he says there’s nothing wrong with being friends with an ex. Is it normal that I’m jealous?!
Anna Maria

Of course it is... send yourself a bunch of flowers with the name of your ex on the card... smell them, kiss them... swoon on the bed... the rest will be easy!

Dear John,
Every time I want to talk about my problems with men they just change the subject. Do you think this is right? Or is it just a sign of immaturity?
