The January issue of Speak Up features an interview with the singer Joss Stone. In this out-take she talks about her 2007 Grammy award. This was for “Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals.” She sang “It’s a Family Affair” with John Legend and Van Hunt:

Joss Stone (Standard British accent):

You know what? When I won that Grammy, I was doing a photo shoot and I wasn’t even at the Grammys! I was gutted, I couldn’t believe it! God! I was doing this photo shoot, I can’t remember what it was for, some black and white shot, and Angelica (her assistant – ed) said, “Hey, guess what, you won a Grammy!” I’d be like, “Shut up! No, I did not! How can I win a Grammy? For what?” For singing a hook on this song. All I did was sing a hook, so really it wasn’t me that won the Grammy. I don’t feel like it was really me. I feel like it was Randy Jackson, ‘cause it was his project, you know, it was his vibe, he produced the whole thing, and I was just grateful to be part of it, all I sang was “It’s a Family Affair, It’s a Family Affair,” and then, I think, John Legend come in (sic), Van Hunt come in (sic), and then I sang the chorus. And that’s it, that’s all I had to do, one morning in LA, and then I won a Grammy for that. It’s mad!
