Mark Worden (Standard British accent):
The November issue of Speak Up features an interview with British fashion designer Zandra Rhodes. In this out-take she remembers the 1960s:
There was hope and it was exciting because they didn’t have coloured make-up. It was a period when they didn’t make colours for the make… so I wore lipstick round my eyes and I wore different things and you think, when I look back, and I thought, “Oh, I’ll wear feathers on the end of my hair, oh, I’ll go to Leonard and ask him to dye my hair green.” And it was a period when you didn’t think about it, you just did it. And it was very exciting. I remember going for my driving test and the woman said, “What do you look like?” And I thought I looked so smart in a purple trouser suit and white brogues and a hat, and she threw my hat to the back of the car and said, “You can’t wear this!” and threw it and I was like going for a driving test and there was this person telling me how dreadful I looked!
Did you pass?
No, I failed…
OK!
…and I didn’t drive for another 10 years!
Oh!
