You need a day off, but you don't want to use up valuable holiday time? Here are some simple rules (courtesy of wikiHow) on how you can pretend to be ill without arousing the suspicions of your colleagues:
1. Let them know that you don't feel very well the day before. If you can show the symptoms of a heavy cold, then even better.
2. Avoid Facebook and all other social networks. In this way your boss won't see those compromising photos of you shopping when you're supposed to be off sick.
3. Call the office early in the morning, as soon as you wake up. That way it's easier to sound like you're ill.
4. If you think that's too difficult, then send a brief text message saying that you don't want your colleagues to catch your germs.
5. Don't go back to work the next day looking as if you feel great. Try and look ill by blowing your nose and coughing every now and again. Better still, go to bed late the night before.
6. Don't feel guilty!
