The "East End" is a famous area of London, but there's also an "East End" on New York's Long Island. And it provided the setting for Melissa de la Cruz's novel Witches of East End. This has been made into a TV series which follows the adventures of a modern family of witches. The mother, Joanna Beauchamp, is immortal, but she hasn't told her two daughters, Freya and Ingrid, that they also have magic powers. This is to protect them from an ancient curse: in every life they are destined to die before they reach the age of 30. Needless to say, the girls find out for themselves! The series isn't a masterpiece, but the language is simple and watching it is a great way to improve your English!
