Harry Styles

Do you think pearl necklaces, painted nails and chiffon gowns are girls’ things? If so, British singer and actor Harry Styles disagrees. Last November, the former member of ultra-popular boy band One Direction became the first man ever to be featured on the cover of Vogue magazine. He was wearing a Gucci lace-trimmed dress.

It was not the first time Harry Styles defied the standards of traditional masculinity: at the 2019 Met Gala, Styles walked the red carpet wearing a black sheer-topped ensemble designed by Gucci’s creative director Alessandro Michele. As a role model for diversity, Harry Styles inspires young people to accept themselves.

Many celebrities have broken gender boundaries in the past. Back in the 1970s, David Bowie challenged gender stereotypes with his futuristic and androgynous looks. Now the number of artists and public figures transcending clichés is increasing, especially among millennials and centennials.

Although he likes to keep his private life out of the spotlight and has refused to define his sexual identity, Styles reportedly dated singer Taylor Swift and top model Kendall Jenner. Currently filming a new movie after his outstanding debut in Christopher Nolan’s war film Dunkirk (2017), Styles hopes to be back on tour with his second solo album Fine Line as soon as possible.
