The rivalry between
Coke and Pepsi is not an urban legend. And in the August issue (click here)
there’s an article about the invention of the Coca Cola bottle. As it
explains, one of the reasons why the company’s bosses in Atlanta decided
to try and create an iconic object was in order to set the product
apart from its many imitators. But did you know that Pepsi was also
invented by a pharmacist? Caleb Bradham created “Brad’s Drink” in New
Bern, North Carolina in 1893 (he changed the name to “Pepsi Cola” in
1899). Unfortunately, according to “Honest Slogans” at least, Coca Cola
is better!
