London's Amora Love Museum
London's Amora Love Museum

Speaker: Mark Worden (Standard British accent)

The January issue of Speak Up includes a feature on the Amora Love Museum in London. In this out-take we ask marketing manager Joseph Lloyd to describe the museum's most popular exhibits:

Joseph Lloyd (Australian accent):

We did sort of some in-house research and they actually enjoy quite a lot the inter-active stuff and that's, I think, one of the strengths of Amora, like when you go to other exhibitions or galleries or museums, it's quite static, so you're just there sort of as an observer, looking at sort of statues or sculptures, just sort of sitting there in a place and sometimes you can't touch it, and I think what a lot of our visitors do appreciate is sort of the toys in there, we've got sort of a history of vibrators, if you like, and people can actually pick them up and touch them, there's also like silicone models of sort of different body parts that people can play with, and also the touch-sensory models. So when you sort of touch the different erogenous zones, they light up, and point out where these zones are, sort of stimulant points. So they actually enjoy the fact that the format is a little bit unconventional to the normal museum style of just sort of, you know, being a spectator, really, and it's more sort of engaging, and that's the whole point of Amora, because it is about the senses. So you see, you hear things, and you can touch things and you can taste things, without… Aphrodisiac Lounge, which is, I would say, the second favourite as well, because, once you sort of go through the exhibit, you come into the Erotic Gallery, where's there's sort of a bookcase and sort of books laid out, you know, sort of which can elaborate on different topics that have been presented in the exhibition, whether it's massage, different positions you can use, different kissing techniques, or even art, and the Aphrodisiac Lounge actually focuses on, we've got a fully equipped bar, but our focus is on some cocktails which we've designed, which are based on aphrodisiac ingredients, you know, there are fruit, nut or grain or vegetable, or just normal… our food item, which, they say, it's not necessarily scientifically proven, but they're… supposedly have psychological effects which increase your desire, they don't get you aroused, there's a difference, but increases your desire, or your powers of seduction, so I think that's where, traditionally, you know, the whole strawberries, dipping them in cream, and feeding them to your… all those clichés, with oysters and, you know, even cinnamon, in your partner's coffee, if you want to put that in your coffee the next time you're feeling in the mood, you just put a little bit of cinnamon there, that's supposed to get them a little bit excited as well, nutmeg, pineapple, which, everyone knows, helps the sperm taste better, but also is an aphrodisiac, pomegranates. So, yeah, that's the theme, in keeping with the theme, it's fun, it's cheeky, it's a great place to hang out, really, and it gives you sort of a total experience.
